Notes come towards you on a 3D fretboard, in time with the music. Or switch to the tab as a page.
Your tabs
Opens Guitar Pro 3 to 7 files and MusicXML; a guitar or bass part written only as notes gets its frets worked out. Drop one in the window.
With the song
Play along with a YouTube video of the song, or an audio file of your own.
In sync
Line the tab up with the song once, bar by bar, or let it sync by ear. It remembers.
Slow it down
Change speed in 5% steps without changing the pitch, and loop any bars you drag across.
Keep time
A count-in and a metronome, and a quick test of your speakers' delay so notes land on the beat.
Pro
One payment, yours to keep. Downloads what it needs once you've activated it.
Song parts
Separates your audio file of the song into vocals, guitar, bass, drums and piano on your computer, so you can turn the guitar down and play it yourself, or hear it alone to learn it.
Amp & effects
Plug your guitar in and play it through amp models and effects in the app, with the input and output of your choice.
Download
Version 0.1, a test version. It keeps itself up to date.
Questions
Which Mac download do I want?
Apple menu → About This Mac: if it says Chip, Apple M1 or later, choose Apple silicon; if it says Processor, Intel. Open the download and drag LumaFrets into Applications.
Windows says it protected my PC
SmartScreen warns about apps it hasn't seen much of yet. Click "More info", then "Run anyway".
How do I run it on Linux?
Make the AppImage runnable, then open it: chmod +x LumaFrets-*.AppImage, or tick "Allow executing file as program" in its properties.
Something went wrong. How do I tell you?
In LumaFrets, open Settings, go down to "Something not working?", say what happened and click Send. It sends us the app's log so we can see what went wrong. After a crash the app offers to send it itself.
Where do the tabs come from?
From you: any Guitar Pro or MusicXML file you have. LumaFrets doesn't sell or download tabs.
How do I use my Pro licence?
After paying you get a licence key by email. In LumaFrets, click Pro in the toolbar, paste the key and click Activate, then download the parts you want.
Can it separate a YouTube video into parts?
No: parts are separated from your own audio file of the song. Play along with it (Audio file…, or drop it into the window) and open Mix.
Does it work offline?
Yes, apart from YouTube videos. Pro checks your licence now and then when you're online, but never stops working because you're offline.
