Open source
LumaFrets is built on open source software, and thanks everyone who made it. Each is used under its licence, whose full text comes with the app.
In the app
- alphaTab, which reads Guitar Pro and MusicXML files: Mozilla Public License 2.0. Its source is at github.com/CoderLine/alphaTab.
- Electron and Chromium: MIT, and Chromium's own licences (listed in the app's LICENSES.chromium.html).
- React: MIT.
- three.js, which draws the highway: MIT.
- audiocn, whose knobs, faders, meters and mixer the app's controls are made from: MIT, copyright 2026 OrcDev. They're built on Base UI (MIT) and Tailwind CSS (MIT), with class-variance-authority (Apache License 2.0), clsx, tailwind-merge and tw-animate-css (all MIT).
- electron-updater: MIT.
- fflate, which opens TuxGuitar files: MIT.
- The sound banks that play the tab's notes, both MIT: MuseScore General (adapted by S. Christian Collins, copyright 2018–2020; temple blocks by Ethan Winer, copyright 2002; drumline cymbals by Michael Schorsch, copyright 2016) and FluidR3 Mono (by Michael Cowgill, copyright 2014–2017), both from Fluid (R3), copyright 2000–2002 and 2008 Frank Wen. Their notices come with the app.
- The plugin host: the VST3 SDK (MIT; VST is a registered trademark of Steinberg Media Technologies GmbH) and miniaudio (public domain, or MIT No Attribution).
In Pro's downloads
- Demucs, which separates a song into its parts: MIT. Its htdemucs_6s model isn't part of the download: the app fetches it onto your computer from its authors' Hugging Face repository, under their terms.
- PyTorch: BSD 3-Clause. NumPy: BSD 3-Clause. soundfile: BSD 3-Clause. libsndfile: LGPL 2.1.
- Python: Python Software Foundation License, from python-build-standalone.
